Chef de Cuisine


Ella Chef de Cuisine Ben Horpedahl started out his culinary career young, working pizza and garde manger stations at Paragary's under Chefs Scott Rose and Kurt Spataro. There he worked his way up to pasta and grill as a Lead Line Cook for two years. He then left to work under and learn from Chefs Phillip Wang and John Gurnee at the esteemed Masons in Downtown Sacramento and was promoted to Sous Chef, a position he held for three years.  Ben then helped open Mix Downtown as the Executive Chef. After moving away from Sacramento briefly to pursue another career, the siren song of the restaurant biz pulled him back to Sacramento, where he soon started at Ella as Sous Chef. When Chef Rob Lind was promoted to Executive Chef of Ella in April 2014, Horpedahl was promoted to our Chef de Cuisine position.
