Selland Family Farmers Market Tips February 2012

There's plenty of beautiful tasty treats to pick up at the farmers markets even in the dead of winter (although admittedly it hasn't been too wintery lately!). Randall and the crews at Selland's, Ella, and The Kitchen recommend the produce from some of our favorite growers below. It's not an exhaustive list by any means. Tell us what you've been picking up lately!

Avocados and strawberries from Williamson Farms (San Diego)

George Suyenaga's brocolli and cauliflower

Brussels sprouts form Contreras Ranch (Half Moon Bay)

Limes, Eureka and Meyer Lemons, and mandarin oranges from Twin Peaks (Nevada City)

Navel oranges and blood oranges from Aoyama (Fresno)

Eggs from Haney - we also like Cache Creek and Contreras Ranch

Chicken from Cache Creek

Leinert's Hony

Cucumbers are coming in at end of month from Madison Growers (Dixon)

Apples from Patrick Hoover (Placerville)

Of course we also love to pick up some flowers for our homes and pork from Bledsoe as well as various greens, herbs, onions and other staples to have on hand throughout the week. Bariani Olive Oil is another one not to miss.

Look for the Selland's van next time you're there and say hi - we never miss a week!

Cheers!
